HOOK (1 sentence): A cozy mystery story built around holiday theme — and one decision that changes everything. PROMISE (2–3 sentences): Introduce protagonist + what they want. Name the obstacle. Hint at why this situation is dangerous/irresistible. STAKES (1–2 sentences): What will be lost if they fail? What will be gained if they risk it? CTA (1 line): Start reading today.
Template B (tropes + bullets)
ONE-LINE PREMISE: Holiday theme meets Cozy Mystery — with high stakes and a clean emotional arc. WHAT YOU’LL GET (bullets): - A clear hook in the first page - Strong character goals - Escalating conflict - A satisfying payoff FINAL LINE: They can’t have everything… unless they’re willing to change.
Quick checklist (before you publish)
- Does the blurb match the cover promise?
- Is the main character goal obvious within 3 sentences?
